Riot Radio – KMFDM – Ultra

"You cannot hurt me anymore..."

I was a proud owner of a VHS copy of 1994’s Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie upon it’s original release. Of the many changes Manga Entertainment made in distributing the film domestically, mostly involving taming the sexual content, violence and language, they also chose to add some (then) contemporary “alternative” music to the soundtrack, including Alice in Chains, Silverchair and Korn. Many complained about this decision but always being a big heavy music dork, I wasn’t one of them, and this was my first exposure to German Industrial pioneers KMFDM, whose Ultra was the perfect accompaniment to Chun Li and Vega’s badass apartment fight.

Of course the Street Fighter series is still going strong, with a fifth installment scheduled to debut on PS4 next spring, and KMFDM is still fighting the good fight as well, they’ll be at Union Transfer this Sunday, August 2nd.
