[RECAP] Krieg, Fight Amp and Eyehategod at Underground Arts 4/23

Worth the wait.

Originally scheduled to take place last fall, but delayed until just this past weekend due to personal unforeseen circumstances from the EHG camp, Philly finally got to see local noise punk giants Fight Amp share the stage with New Orleans doom legends Eyehategod, alongside the deft crunch of local old school black metallers Krieg. Krieg definitely lived up to their reputation, 20 + years as USBM heavyweights with ear shattering wails over a groove laden, NWOBHM-esque attack, not unlike Riot Nerd favorites Midnight.

Hometown heroes Fight Amp never disappoint, the bass heavy chug of their signature distorted style even more powerful bouncing off the concrete in Underground Arts basement setting. We caught up with Fight Amp at Kung Fu Necktie after the prior cancellation, on a bill with Unsane/Today Is The Day side project UXO. FA once again brushes shoulders with metal royalty, as stoner sludge progenitors Eyehategod, despite sound issues at the outset, sated their rabid fanbase with over an hour of material from their nearly 30 year legacy.

It was a long time coming, but seeing several generations of the heavy music elite come together and grace one of our favorite local venues was definitely worth the wait.
