With all the curve balls thrown our way by the year 2016, it’s nice to be able to get away from it all in a galaxy far, far away. The best part is that the galaxy is full of rebels and the home base is at Tattooed Mom’s on South Street, so not so far away. Leave it to the coolest nerds this side of our solar system, The Atomic City Comics crew, to bring us an event where we can drink, dance, cosplay, and get hyped for the release of Rogue One. What more can you ask for from a holiday party even Han Solo would stick around for.
Well there is one way to make it better. Theme it around everybody’s favorite, recently departed starman, David Bowie. “Rebel, Rebel” is the theme of the night for Atomic City’s 2nd Annual Star Wars: The Costumed Dance Party, and it’s the perfect prelude for the movie that will show us the birth of the rebellion itself. Who better to theme it after than a man who refused to conform to societal norms and inspired multiple generations to express themselves freely and without apology? Providing the soundtrack for this moonage daydream is Philly’s own DJ Foxx Boogie. He will be on hand and setting an atmosphere at this space oddity meant to inspire the alliance to keep the faith as they prepare for a long battle against the Oompa Skinned Overlord.
If none of what I have said is enough to inspire you to join the cause, there’s more. As if Atomic City would bring you an event without fabulous prizes?!!?!?! Of course, being a costume party there will be rewards that even a Jedi would desire to possess not to mention a raffle drawing with a winner takes all prize pack valued at $100! Still not convinced that this is where you should be next Friday? What about a Star Wars Art Gallery with prints for sale? A costumed photo booth for capturing you in all your rebel glory? How about a Death Star piñata disco ball? Ahhhh, 5 little words, awesome on their own made that much greater by bringing them together. Oh and did I mention that everybody’s favorite droid, R2D2, will be there to party with us as well? How you turn my world, you precious thing.
While you might be feeling afraid of Americans right now, we encourage you to leave the stress behind and let’s dance. Let’s drink. Let’s dress up as our favorite rebellious heroes and come together for a night of modern love, fun, and general geekery. So if in the midst of the rise of the evil orange empire, you’re having a hard time finding the joy in this holiday season, we invite you to come let loose with your fellow moisture farmers, queen bitches, protocol droids, China girls, and scruffy nerf herders at Tattooed Mom’s on Friday, December 9th from 7pm to 2am, or until we use hyper drive to take us to the golden years, whichever comes first….
