Preview: May The Fourth Be With You: A Star Wars Burlesque

“…sure to please even the darkest of Sith hearts…”

It seems like it was only yesterday that we were celebrating The Force Awakens with a well done farce, that was equal parts sexy, nerdy, and fun.  Miss Liberty Rose and her band of rebels paid tribute to the classic trilogy with tassels, thongs, and teasing about a year and a half ago at the PhilaMOCA.  For those of us who were gearing up to see the first new addition to our beloved Star Wars universe, that show was the perfect way to satiate the overwhelming anticipation building in our hearts.  It was the perfect hype man sent out to the crowd to get us fired up for the return to some of our favorite characters. With no end in sight to the expansion of our favorite galaxy far, far away, and new movies on the horizon for the next few years, Broad Street Burlesque knows it’s a long way til December and they have just what we need to scratch that Star Wars itch: May The Fourth Be With You: A Star Wars Burlesque.

Hosted at The Ethical Society in Rittenhouse Square, Broad Street Burlesque will be bringing back some of our favorite performers and hosts to celebrate a day fans have been observing as a Star Wars holiday for over 6 years now, May The Fourth.  Returning to the theme that introduced them to the scene, be on the lookout for two of Philly’s best kept sexy, secrets, Sharp Robert and Flirt Vonnegut. Both performers have come a long way since The Farce Awakens and I for one am looking forward to seeing their…ahem…growth…at this show.  Also returning for this sexy, sci-fi, sequel are some of the city’s finest femme fatales, Margot Starlux, HoneyTree Evileye, and of course, the classic beauty with the perfect blend of retro grace and modern flair, Philadelphia’s own woman crush all day, every day, Miss Liberty Rose.

Broad Street Burlesque is known for lineups boasting the latest local talent and this show is no different. Joining them for this epic saga, performers like Francis Menotti, Pizza Wolf and Asha Rabbit will be sure to please even the darkest of Sith hearts.  Need even more star studded sexiness bringing you the classic art of striptease? No problem, Renaissance Noir and the multi-talented Maso Kiss will also be on hand to serve up the best entertainment to hit Tatooine since The Cantina Band.  As Star Wars represents the battle to balance the forces of light and dark, no tribute to the largest pop cultural phenomena of our time would be complete without an evil dark lord. All the way from Houston, Texas, JD Hickock will be on hand to serve as the ruthless Palpatine.

As if the lineup was not enough to get you out on a beautiful spring night, a VIP seat that boasts a signed poster (have you seen the flyer!??!! Yes please and thank you!), front row seats, a picture with the cast (again, the poster…) and a light up, sound effect TriSaber!! All of that, plus a floor show? A scruffy nerf herder like yourself should be so lucky!  So give your original trilogy VHS tapes a break this May 4th (true fans aren’t watching the remastered messes on this holy day) and join Miss Liberty Rose and The Broad Street Burlesque at The Ethical Society for a truly out of this world experience.  Doors are at 7 and general admission tickets are $40, VIP is $75. BUT WAIT!!!! To spread the geek love far and wide we have just what you need to get yourself the true Jedi Master hook up, enter the code “RIOTNERDRULES” on Eventbrite and get general admission tickets for $25 and VIP seats for just $60!  Join us for a night of sexy rebel scum celebration and help restore balance to the force!
