It’s the most wonderful time of the year; Holiday time! Philly has experienced it’s first snow and it’s really feeling like the Holidays. There are many holiday events happening in the city but there is one place that has been a tradition for 10 years; The Christmas Village. The Christmas Village in Philadelphia magically transforms Love Park/JFK Plaza into a Winter Wonderland. The Christmas Village is open Sunday- Saturday with different events happening each day and will be open until Christmas Eve.
The Christmas Village has many things to do and see this year. If you are a parent, like me, your little ones will soon be on winter break. Stop by the village on Wednesday for Story Time at 11:00a.m. Parkway Central Library will read a story to the kids. Seating is provided for children and their parents. Kids can also meet Santa Claus and take a picture with the big guy. Dog owners can bring their furbabies on Fridays for Dog Fridays. They can take a photo with Santa and receive one free treat from Kylie’s Canine Treats. Guests can also revel in the music with musical guests and performers through out the week. Don’t forget to ride the carousel; an experience guests of all ages can enjoy.
In addition to fun activities, The Christmas Village has over 80 vendors for all your food and shopping needs. Pick of gifts for everyone on your list or treat yourself to some shopping. You can purchase handcrafted Christmas ornaments, arts & crafts, toys, glass, fashion, beauty and more throughout the village. There is definitely something for everyone. After shopping, you’ll want to recharge with a food and drinks. The Christmas Village has lunch specials and HO HO Happy Hour. Taste all kinds of yummy food from crepes, gourmet grilled cheese, waffles, German classics and chocolate. The wine tastings are a great for those on a date night or a girls night out.
The holiday times are also about giving back and spreading holiday cheer. The village has a Wishing Wall, were guests can purchase a wooden heart and write their wish. One dollar from each purchase will go to the Make A Wish Foundation. December 16-17 is the Make A Wish Weekend with a special performance by The Make A Wish Performers. PAWS Philadelphia will be at Christmas Village on December 22 spreading awareness and will have adoptable puppies! I mean what’s a better gift that a puppy? You’ll feel good while doing something good for these great causes.
This holiday season, make The Christmas Village in Philadelphia part of your tradition. You and your loved ones will be delighted with the beauty of the village, the family friendly events, music, food, shopping and a little charity.
